Growing up in my grandmother's house I could always count on coming in from a cold day to dinner cooking on the stove and dessert baking in the oven. My brother and I called her Grandma, but everyone in the neighborhood called her Aunt Lil--because to our neighbors and friends she was like an aunt.

I owe her a deep gratitude for sharing her recipes. One of the things I loved about her cooking was many of the ingredients were typically found in our pantry.

Along with her recipes, I've collected others from my friends, a few from Bart's mother, and a couple of my own that I've grown to love over the years. There's nothing quite like the smell of a meal cooking followed by the glow of family and friends around the dinner table.
